My weekend was tiring but so worth it! Saturday was my son’s very first birthday! I can’t belive he’s already a one year old 😩. I feel like Shakeem and I just left the hospital with him. I don’t like to post too much about my personal life but this was a special weekend for my little family.
Our Trip to the Zoo!
Sj is very brave and adventurous so, the Lowry Park Zoo seemed like the perfect place to take him for his first birthday. Feeding the goats and seeing all the animals on the African Safari ride were the best parts! Tickets were $37 each for adults (def thought they were $15 for some reason 🤦🏾♀️). We didn’t have to pay anything for Junior. Our tickets turned out to be annual so you know what that means; we will be all up in through that Zoo lmao.
As for our trip, kids were everywhere, and almost every parent had the same look of exhaustion or excitement lmao. I was both 😂. Excited because it was his first bday, and tired because me and Shakeem don’t sleep (I’m not kidding, please send help 😭).
All the zombie walking was worth it though. We get to tell our son about his first bday trip to the Zoo when he’s older. That’s priceless!
Some things to know when going to the Lowry Park Zoo with your kids?
Bring food, water and snacks for yourself and the kids; all the food is crazy expensive 😒
Wear comfortable shoes; the lines are a little long
Bring cash for the all the rides and activities that need extra money. You can’t avoid it with them kids 😂
Pack some wine because life is more fun that way 😅
Momma’s Still in the Makeup Game
On Sunday November 11th, I did some makeup for a special wedding. 10 faces, back to back...with no break! My back is killing me and my feet feel like bricks but putting in that work to see how great my clients looked this weekend was well worth the effort. My client’s bridal party included 9 women and herself. I did blush toned neutral look on all the bridemaids, while my bride was all glitz and glam 💁🏽♀️.
Getting ready for weddings are always crazy lol. The chaos is inevitable! It’s a big day, a lot of people are excited, and there are a lot of details to miss. It’s all about damage control and your team.
I find that brides with really understanding bridal parties and friends who really know them as people, usually have the best experience.
This wedding job was one of my smoothest experiences with doing group makeup. That’s kind of unusual considering this was the most amount of faces I’ve done in one session. I think our secret weapon was a combo of her bridal party and wedding planners at Cross the T’s Event Planning.
Everything was scheduled so well that there was extra room for the inevitable slip ups like running late. Coco, the CEO of Cross the T’s Event Planning, literally stood by my side to make sure I got the last face done on time for the ceremony to start at a decent time. Listen, she was not playing with me okay lol! That’s what I call a dedicated wedding planner. Btw, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Dew. Everything was lovely!
Overall, my weekend was eventful and restless but memorable. I celebrated my baby boy’s first bday and I made money doing something I really love. Sometimes the sacrifices are worth the unforgettable moments that make you feel your best 😉
